David Michael Johns, 62, died peacefully after his long battle with serious health issues and PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) on May 3, 2020. His family were the pride and joy of his life, the legacy of his kind spirit and gentle, humble soul. He had a passion for God, Big Red Nebraska football, and was the biggest Beatlemaniac. He always had a smile on his face, was always there to brighten the lives of others, and loved to tell “dad jokes” to watch people’s reaction to his humor.
David was born in Sherman, Texas to Arthur & Gerardine Johns on April 1, 1958. He graduated from Adams Central High School in Hastings, Nebraska in 1977. David went on to earn his BA in Business Administration from RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) in Rochester, NY. David worked for IBM for 31 years. He was a devoted deacon for Story One Metro for 27 years.
David leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife of 38 years, Janie Johns; son, Stephen Johns; daughter, Rachel Johns and husband Mark Draz; son, Joey; his brother, Paul Johns and sister, Diane Johns White and their families. David was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Gerardine Johns; brother, Stephen Johns; and sister, Mary Johns Conn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's name to Deaf Action Center (www.dactexas.org/give) or American Kidney Fund (www.kidneyfund.org).
A memorial service will take place at 1:00pm on July 3, 2021 at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home (10501 Garland Rd, Dallas, TX 75218).
