Concepcion who was affectionately known as “Conchita” and was raised in Cement City. She graduated from N.R. Crozier Tech High School and married the love of her life, Alexandro Hernandez on October 19, 1942. She was a devoted homemaker who loved to sew and volunteer at her church San Juan-St. Teresa Church.
She and Alexandro were very active with the youth of San Juan St. Theresa Church. They hosted over fifty teens at any given time. They also volunteered at many fundraisers benefiting several organizations of the church. On Sundays, she was the happy smile that greeted you, in the church hall curio shop after every service.
She was also a recipient of The Republican Ladies “Hats Off” Award for her dedicated volunteer work.
At home she loved sewing for many people, from quinceneras to weddings and even the Miss Texas Pageant.
She enjoyed spending time with all her family. The laughter, the food and seeing everyone just brought a twinkle to her eyes. Every Christmas, she would set up the Nacimiento “Nativity Scene”, a tradition passed down from generation to generation, and celebrate the birth of our Lord.
“Conchita” also known as “Mama” to all those who were closest to her, loved life and she touched everyone she met with her sweet loving smile. We take comfort that she is now with our Lord.
