Clarence M. Bruyere

Clarence Bruyere, 93, of Dallas passed away peacefully in his home on January 29, 2018. Clarence entered the world on January 21, 1925, the youngest child of Ernest W. and Lois (Johnson) Bruyere in Fort Worth. He graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in 1942 and briefly attended Port Arthur Radio College before coming home to attend radio classes at TCU. Clarence pursued a career in radio at WRR Transmitter at Fair Park before realizing his dream of studio work at WFAA in Dallas on June 19, 1944. It was there that he met the love of his life and his other half, Margaret Brown, whom he married July 16, 1948. His meticulous attention to detail in his craft earned him enduring respect from all who worked with him. He remained with WFAA until his retirement in January 1990.

In the years since, he was recognized by both the Texas Radio Hall of Honor and as a Living Legend by the Press Club of Dallas. Clarence also served as a 32° Mason with Hella Shrine, and was a faithful member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lois, brother, Ernest, Jr., three nephews, and his beloved son, Raymond. Left to celebrate his life are his cherished wife of almost 70 years, Margaret, daughter, Karen (John Scott), granddaughter, Natalie (Jeremy Parks), great-grandchildren, Jayden and Ella, niece, Ouita Borden (Jerry) and family, a host of cousins and friends, whom he adored as family.

Services will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Sparkman Hillcrest.

Special thanks go to the dedicated caregivers at New Hope Hospice for allowing him to be at home in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a Shriner’s hospital or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
