Christopher Fitzgerald Brown was born April 17, 1964. He transitioned from his earthly body to his heavenly one on November 29, 2019. Although his physical presence will be missed, his spirit will live on in the love and laughter he left behind.
His sense of humor was contagious. Chris’s mantra was simple: Find the funny. He possessed the uncanny, innate ability to pinpoint the humorous aspect of any circumstance. On any given Saturday night, you could catch him bringing laughter and life to a sold out audience at the Backdoor, Hyenna’s or the Improv. His day to day interactions with friends, family and co-workers were filled with hilarious quips and jokes. Throughout his career, he won several awards including: The Funniest Comic in Texas Finalist 2010; Funniest Comic in Texas Finalist 2012; and the Best of Frisco Comedy Festival. He left a legacy of laughter.
During his life he performed in various venues as an actor. His most prominent stage performances were at the Jubilee Theater in Ft. Worth and the African American Repertory Theater in Desoto. His television performances include a series of Rodney D Young Commercials and several appearances on Walker Texas Ranger.
In addition to his performing arts pursuits; he was a reliable, consistent force in the corporate sector. He was employed at Capital One for 16 years, where he earned multiple Quarterly Diamond Awards. Most recently, he worked with Exeter Finance.
Although he was a man of many talents, he was most exceptional in his role as a father. He was a wonderful role model for his son Malcolm. He taught him to love, lead, and believe in God. When asked which lessons he learned from his father, Malcolm always replies: “Be strong, take care of your things, and always tell the truth.” The values he instilled in his son will live on forever.
Chris was baptized at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship for more than 20 years since becoming a member in 1994. During his time at OCBF, he served in the Drama Ministry and engaged in work with the Urban Alternative.
Christopher Brown is the son of: Clemmie Brown Lewis (deceased) and Phonzell Brown. Christopher is survived by wife Shundra Brown and eight year old son Malcolm; sisters Edith Brown and Veronica Chukwu. He had a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and close friends.
