Mr. Charles A. Smith was born April 1, 1936, the son of the late Ms. Eula Mae Virdon in Purdon, Navarro County, Texas. He passed away March 4, 2011 in Fort Worth, Texas and is greeted in Heaven by his father, mother, two brothers, and sister. He received his elementary education in Purdon, Texas, and attended Jackson High School in Corsicana, Texas. As a young man he lived and worked in other states and cities before settling in Dallas, Texas in the sixties. He began working for Sparkman/Crane in the early seventies and stayed with them until 2010. He was a very spiritual man that found joy in worshiping with the members of his church of choice. Charles leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Patricia Edwards of Corsicana, TX and Constance Muhammad (Jesse) of Fort Worth, TX; five grandchildren, Eddie Cook (Geneva), Demetress Cook, Donnell Cook, Chrystal Stephen and Jamala Muhammad; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 7:00pm - 9:00pm, Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home in Dallas. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00pm, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Chapel of Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home, Rev. Porter Perry, officiating and Rev. Cameron Taylor, eulogizing. Interment will follow the service at 3:30pm at Carver Memorial Park in Ferris, Texas. Arrangements under the direction of Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home, Dallas, TX.
