Mr. Charles E. Honeycutt

Chuck Honeycutt was a wisecracking Longhorns fan who adored his family and friends. He powered through life in a fiery red dually occasionally taking the off-ramp for coffee and pie. Otherwise, he would be fishing, four-wheeling, waterskiing, or some other adventure.

Charles was born in Wellington, TX, and grew up with four sisters, whom he teased and loved immensely. Chuck was a mischievous child whose quick wit and outgoing nature won many friends. He displayed a knack for art and athletics while attending Shamrock High School.

Chuck was entrepreneurial from a young age. Starting off catching and selling rattlesnakes and later moving onto laundromats, car washes, cabinet shops, and carpentry businesses. Founding American Improvements in 1990, he built and outfitted hundreds of Eyemart optical stores across the southern United States.

As a dad, Chuck was just as adventurous teaching his kids how to be the same. He took Scott and Cindy dirt biking, and Montanna four-wheeling leaving them all with plenty of laughs and maybe even some scars that are fondly remembered. He also knew how to relax watching Nascar, plenty of football and maybe finishing off a pint of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream while doing so.

Charles spent his retirement in the company of his wife, Jan, his three children, and his four grandkids. Charles loved hanging out on his ranch in Quitman, TX, where he ate at his favorite diner, the Red Dome.

The legacy Chuck leaves for his family is one of love, care for others, and adventure.
