Celestine Wade

How long ago? 58 years 10 months and 29 days. Celestine was of the Generation X era. A star sign: Sagittarius if you would care to know. Celestine as a child was very confident and aware of her beauty. Although, as a family, we didn’t take many pictures, she was always ready for the camera. She had a heart full of love and abundance of joy, this made her a joy to be around. She loved the outdoors and entertainment with friends and family members. She was a devoted, loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie and friend. In her later days, she made it a point to call and check in on her family members often. We have come to discover that her time was so intentional in making sure that we were told of her love for us. Its funny how we don’t consider the importance of those moments until they are no more. She now reminds us of how to value each other and the life we share. Her life was truly a testament of a faithful servant. She persevered through the oppositions of being misunderstood, unappreciated, ignored and even victimized. She was forgiving and unvengeful, no matter the pain she endured. She’s yet teaching us all how to be courageous and yet humble to yield to the God and Lord of us all.

Everyone would soon call her “Stine” for short. She loved playing around with her siblings but was one of few words. To some she was very shy and soft spoken.

The family attended Oak Hill Baptist Church located in South Dallas on Oakland Ave. She accepted the Lord at an early age and later rededicated her life in 1989, while attending Oak Cliff Christian Center, located in Oak Cliff. It was at Oak Cliff Christian Center that she received that baptism of the Holy Ghost and the evidence of speaking in tongues.

Celestine received her education at E.V. Hood elementary and later attended Pearl C. Anderson Middle School during her ninth-grade year. She later received her GED and attended Velma B. Beauty School on Ewing Ave in Dallas, Texas. She was skillful at her work and took pride in it and was able to pass on her knowledge to others.

She worked at various restaurants over the years and developed a passion for cooking. Everyone that knew her would say the same thing about her, she was funny and fun to be around.

Celestine, loved life and wanted to live a life that was meaningful and intentional for her family. Although she faced many challenges as a teenager, she defied the odds and was determined to demonstrate her will to live, laugh and love. On November 29, 1979, she birthed her first child, a baby boy, Rodney Wade. Then on July 1, 1982, she births another baby boy, Kedric Wade. She would not stop there until her first and only baby girl made the scene on September 6, 1984, Angela Wade-Taylor.

She met Charles Ontivoros, the man that made a difference in her life where they were able to demonstrate, unconditional love for each other. Charles and Celestine, on December 1, 2007 shared their vows in Holy Matrimony. They would celebrate 16 Years of being together until the Lord called her home on November 29, 2024 at 6:36a.m.

We thank the Lord for her life, for every precious moment and memory of love and joy that we were able to share. Thank you for every good deed and every sorrow that gives us a reason to rejoice for a time we shall share together in eternity.

Celestine was proceeded in death by her father, Lenard Wade Sr., two sisters Catherine Forster and Katheleen Forster, three brothers, Robert James Forster, Maurice Wade and Michael Wade, and a nephew, Robert Wade Bryant.

Celestine is survived by her loving husband, Charles Ontivoros (Duncanville), her Mother, Pauline Forster-Wade (Grand Prairie), Children: Rodney (Dallas), Kedric (Dallas), and Angela (Crandall), a Son in Love, Patrick Taylor,. Grandchildren: Kevyontae (Dallas), Diamond (Dallas), and Karter (Dallas). One great grandchild: Kaycyn (Dallas), Seven siblings: Leonard (Cedar Hill), Carolyn (California), Linda (Kentucky), Joe (Dallas), Allen (Grand Prairie), Patricia (Arlington), Andrea (Dallas). Brother in Love, Joseph (California), Sister in love, Georgette (Cedar Hill). She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
