Carl H Hileman, Jr. passed into the arms of the Beloved Father on April 23, 2011. He was born on Nov. 21, 1923 in Arma, Kansas to Mary Elizabeth Vance Hileman and Carl Herbert Hileman. He grew up in San Antonio, Texas. Carl was one of the greats in the Greatest Generation. He served his country at the D-Day Invasion. The USS LCI 520 was headquarters ship for the commander gunfire support group during the assault on Cherbourg Peninsula on the coast of France. It was the first ship across the line of departure in the assault area and remained there for over a month. He later returned to San Antonio, Texas to raise a family and create a place for himself in the workplace. Mr. Hileman started his career in the commercial flooring business working as a salesman and sales manager for some of the country’s top manufacturers. His innovations and leadership resulted in projects like General Dynamics, American Airlines, Dallas Fair Music Hall, and USAA’s corporate campus that established enduring benchmarks in new product and installation techniques. Mr. Hileman became president of a small, local commercial flooring business, Superior Carpet Corporation, in 1984 and led it to national prominence as the eighth largest flooring contractor in the country by 1996. After the business was acquired by a Fortune 1000 company, Mr. Hileman shared his knowledge as a mentor and leader with young entrepreneurs all over the United States. He diligently pursued that passion until his retirement in 1998. During his career Mr. Hileman served on advisory councils for industry giants DuPont, Allied Chemical, BASF, Milliken, and Shaw Industries. Carl leaves to the world a legacy of honor, integrity, kindness and love as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, associate, mentor and compassionate philanthropist. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Douglas Hileman, sister-in-law Mildred Hileman and by his first wife of 48 years Rachel Routh Hileman. He leaves to mourn and celebrate his journey back to the bosom of God his devoted and loving wife Gaile Mary Hileman; daughter Cynthia Bryan and husband James Bryan, their son Jason Bryan and 3 great grandchildren, their daughter, Alyssa L. Montgomery and her husband Tony Montgomery, and 1 great grandson; daughter Carol Marzalek and husband Ron Marzalek, their children, Brianne Law and her husband James Law, Shawn Clancy, and Carl Clancy; daughter Mary Savage, her children, Tom Savage and wife Cindy Savage, 2 great grandchildren; Christopher Savage and wife Molly Savage and 2 great grandchildren; Rachael Beggs and husband Jon Beggs and 2 great grandchildren; Patrick Savage, Michael Savage; daughter Nena Paul and 2 great grandchildren; son Michael Hileman and wife Lorie, his child David Hileman and wife Elizabeth and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by niece Pat Sparks and her husband Ralph Sparks. There will be a prayer and memorial DVD presentation celebrating his life on Friday, April 29 commencing at 7 pm at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas followed by visitation. Funeral services will take place on Saturday , April 30 , 2011 at 2:00 pm also at the Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial chapel officiated by Methodist Chaplain J.K Cupples with a graveside Military ceremony. A memorial reception will be held at the home of Carl and Gaile Hileman in Flower Mound following the funeral for all family and friends.
