Beloved daughter, sister, aunt and companion, Candyce Tara Eoff went to the Lord, passing away peacefully on October 5, 2020. Born on August 23, 1971, to John Edward Eoff III and Vicky R. Eoff, Candyce attended Allen Academy of Bryan, Texas, before graduating from the Hockaday School of Dallas in 1989. She did her undergraduate and graduate work in Art History at Southern Methodist University, Dallas and pursued museum studies at Harvard University, Cambridge.
Candyce took great pride in her seven generations of Texans as a Daughter of Texas and beauty pageant queen, Leon County, 1989. In addition to her quick wit and creative energy, Candyce was an accomplished ballet dancer, pianist, tennis player and equestrian, hunter-jumper. A great supporter of the arts and an avid collector, Candyce worked for many years with the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum, and was instrumental in that organization’s rising to museum status at the Santa Barbara Museum of Contemporary Art. Candyce enjoyed the French Quarter, New Orleans where she was a member of the New Orleans Historical Society and a Friend of the Saint Louis Cathedral that honors her name.
She was an active and supporting member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Dallas, as well as SMU Catholic. She opened her home and hosted innumerable social and fundraising events to benefit the Church and its organizations, including the Knights of Malta and Legatus. Seeking enjoyment with friends, Candyce could make fun out of anything. She wholeheartedly carried on her joy with, and will be deeply missed by, her dearest friend and companion, Richard D. Kelly.
Candyce is survived by her mother, Vicky R. Eoff, brothers John Edward Eoff, IV, and Jayson Elliott Eoff, nephews John Edward Eoff, V, and Jameson Brooks Eoff, as well as her partner in life, Richard D. Kelly.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Sunday, October 11, from 6-8pm, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home located at 7405 W. Northwest Hwy. Due to the current circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 virus, there will be a private funeral mass on Monday, October 12, at 10:00am, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Dallas, TX. This mass will be live-streamed via a link within her obituary page on http://www.sparkman-hillcrest.com/. Candyce will be laid to rest at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
