Billy Glenn Roberts 84 of Canton, North Carolina passed away January 16, 2023, in Waynesville, North Carolina. He was born to S.W. and Ann Roberts in Deport, Texas. He married Ramona Ryall on June 1, 1963 in Los Fresnos, Texas, he also married Johana Renfro on October 15, 2000 in Lake Junaluska, North Carolina.
He was employed with Municipal Fire Services, Dallas Fire Department for 25 years, with Austin Fire Department for 11 years.
He was a member of Rotary International. He served in the Texas Air National Guard from 1960-1966 as a Crash/Fireman.
He is survived by his daughter Renee Burks of Hamilton, Texas and 1 Grandchild. He was preceded in death by Ramona Roberts, and Johana Roberts.
Bill rose through the ranks of the Dallas Fire Department reaching the post of Assistant Chief of Administration. In 1983, Bill was hired as the Fire Chief of the City of Austin, Texas, where he remained until his retirement in 1994. Bill retired to the mountains of Western North Carolina, where he lived until his passing.
