Betty Priddy Walker passed away from a sudden illness on May 7, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. Betty was born in Dallas on June 7, 1951, to Kathryn Amsler Priddy and Ashley Horne Priddy, who preceded her in death.
Attending the Hockaday School, she graduated in 1969. Betty continued her education at the University of Texas at Austin, where she followed in her grandmother’s and mother’s footsteps, as a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. After college, Betty returned to Hockaday to teach mathematics and would later serve on the Board of Trustees from 1985 until 1991.
Betty was an avid reader and loved to travel; she enjoyed gardening, volunteering in the community with Genesis Women’s Shelter and time spent with horses.
She is survived by her four children: Kathryn Walker Francis and husband James, Caroline Horne Walker, Willard “Elliott” Walker III, and Ashley Walker Coles and husband Nathan; her two siblings: Hervey Priddy and wife Dianne, and Ann Priddy Bentley and husband Rhett; her grandchildren: James Byrne Francis IV, Ashley Carter Francis, and Robert Priddy Francis; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and godchildren. The family would like to thank Angela Alvarez for her years of help and support.
A memorial service will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Monday, May 14, 2018, at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to The Hockaday School, 11600 Welch Road, Dallas, TX, 75229; St. Marks School of Texas, 10600 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas, 75230; the music program at St. Michael and All Angles Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas Ave., Dallas, TX; or a charity of your choosing.
