Bennie was born August 30, 1940 to his parents, Marshall E. and Lugene Allen Head in Mooringsport, Louisiana. He was educated in through public schools, graduating from Hearndon High. Bennie attended 2 years at Grambling State College.
As a youth he was baptized and added to St Paul Missionary Baptist Church. He was active in several ministries and supported his church home often.
Bennie relocated to Dallas in 1962 and married his high school sweetheart Beatrice Johnson. To this union 3 children were born, 2 boys and 1 girl. Bennie Jr., Terayn, and Derren Head.
Bennie was employed at New Process Steel for several years and Ford Motors for 34 years and he retired in 2000.
Bennie and his family joined Jordan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late R. M. Robertson. Bennie was ordained as a dedicated deacon, served as an usher, sang with the male chorus, was a van driver and served wherever needed. Bennie’s health hindered his participation this past year, but he continued to be involved through others.
In 1991, Bennie remarried, to Dorothy J. Walker and added a new family. The blending of the family has been good.
Bennie was a resident in Dallas for 68 years. He passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020. He will be truly misses and he was a jovial soul.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jean Nelson, brother Mack Author Myles; his ex-wife; and granddaughter, Malene Nicole Head.
Those left to cherish his are his wife, Dorothy J. Head, sons; Bennie Head Jr. (Sonja), Derren Head, daughter Terayn Michelle Rasmussen. Sister, Maggie Holden (Jerry) of Nevada. Grandchildren: Damien, LaQuesha, Gabrielle, JeVene, and Desmond. Acquired children: Michael, Otis, Beverly, Curtis (Alisa), Marcus (Darla), Marvin (Sherry). Acquired grandchildren: Victor, LaToya, Angela, Nyra, Christopher, Rory, Gabrielle, Sharonda, Ronald, Victor, Jalysa, Jeremiah, Arrenia. Goddaughter LaDasha Watson, niece Rita Greer, nephew Jeffery Nelson, many cousins, friends, and neighbors.
