Barbara Jean Cuffman Wells was born on September 4th, 1931 in a humble farmhouse about a mile or so north of the current Collin County Community College, east of Jupiter Road. Her parents were Alton Major Cuffman and Goldie Smith Cuffman. She was the third of five sisters: Kay, Frances, Barbara, Mattie, and Alice. They had one brother, Robert, who was the oldest of the siblings. Robert died on Christmas day of 1944, a tank crewman in the battle of the bulge. She graduated from Plano High School in the class of 1949 at the age of 17 and was the valedictorian of her class. She married William Henry Lafayette Wells a few weeks later, and lived on Coit Road for the rest of her life. She worked as the book keeper for the Wells Brothers' Feed and Grain Company for many years, as well as being a mother and home maker extraordinaire ... She is survived by her two much younger sisters, Mattie and Alice, two very handsome sons, Richard and Johnny, their wives, Stephanie and Mary, and five grandchildren:John, Danielle, Robert, William, Madeline, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and so forth. She was a lifelong member and choir member of the First Baptist Church of Plano, Texas and had no enemies. She will be missed greatly. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 5 - 7 pm at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 10:30 am at Frankford Cemetery in Dallas, Texas with a Memorial Service at 2 pm at First Baptist Church of Plano located at 1300 E. 15th Street.
