Arlie Thomas

She was born in Roxton, Texas and was one of thirteen children. She married the love of her life MC Thomas on May 2, 1942, in Paris, Texas. They lived in Roxton where she had two children, moving to Dallas in March of 1952.

Arlie was a wonderful mother, staying involved in her children’s lives by serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and walking her 2 children to church every Sunday when her husband could not attend as he worked at the VA Hospital in Dallas.

Arlie was an exceptional seamstress and made clothes for herself, brothers and sisters, and later her children, neighbors, nieces and others. She also did alterations for Levines Department store where she had a job as a cashier.

Arlie is preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband MC of 55 years, all of her 12 siblings, and several nephews and nieces. She is survived by her 2 sons: Bill and Larry, Larry’s wife Susan, and 2 grandchildren: Charles and Elizabeth and Elizabeth's husband Mark.

She will be missed by her neighbors and family.

A visitation for Arlie will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L., Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232. A celebration of life will occur Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 6300 South R.L., Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232. A committal service will occur Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Laurel Land Mem Park - Dallas, 6300 S. R.L. Thornton Frwy., Dallas, TX 75232.
