On April 7, 1941, Anna Ruth Hobbs Stokes was the third child born to Elbert and Elma Robinson Hobbs, in Point, Texas. Both of her parents and her sister Patricia "Sue" Lod preceded her in death. She graduated from St. Paul High School in Greenville, Texas in 1959. Anna attended Bishop College in Marshall, Texas. It was at Bishop College that she met the love of her life, Clyde W. Stokes and on February 10, 1963, they joined together in holy matrimony. Two children were born to this union, a daughter, Pamela Deshann and a son, Clyde Jr., who preceded her in death. Anna was raised in a Christian home and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Prairie Grove Baptist Church in Emory, Texas. In 1975, the Stokes family united with New Hope Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. H. Rhett James. She served on the Showers of Blessing ministry and on the Fidelia Usher Board. She served as the usher board's Interim President until her health failed. Anna retired from Texas Instruments/Raytheon in 1998 after 33 years of loyal service. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, many God children, nieces and nephews. She will forever be loved and cherished by her devoted husband of 53 years, Clyde Stokes, Sr., daughter Pamela Stokes Cooper (Aric) all of Dallas, Texas; brothers Famous Hobbs (Helen) of Los Angeles, CA., Elvin Hobbs (Thelma), and Lee Hobbs both of Emory, Texas; brother-in-law Lawrence Stokes, Sr. (Gussie) of Hughes Springs, Texas; two sisters-in-law Mildred Stokes and Betty Jean Stokes Lee both of Memphis, TN.; god granddaughter, Erika Kennedy, and god grandson Denim Brown.
