Amaya Marie Lockett, who departed from this world at the age of 24. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on November 28, 1999, to her devoted parents, Alicia Singleton and Jaunci Lockett, Amaya's life was a testament to love, creativity, and resilience.
Amaya's educational journey spanned several states, including Texas, Virginia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, where she gathered experiences and friendships that enriched her life. She graduated from Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she was known for her enduring spirit and empathetic nature.
A passionate and multifaceted individual, Amaya was an avid gamer, an accomplished artist, and a lover of anime and music. Her creative talents and boundless enthusiasm brought joy to those around her, and she found solace and expression in her various interests.
At the time of her passing, Amaya was a dedicated student at Tarrant County College, where she was working diligently to obtain her real estate license. Her ambition and drive were evident in her academic pursuits and her dreams of creating a prosperous future for herself and her family.
Amaya was also a devoted and loving mother to her son, Elijah. Her nurturing and compassionate nature shone brightly in her role as a mother, and her bond with Elijah was a source of immense joy and fulfillment for her. She cherished every moment with her son, and her love for him was boundless.
Amaya Marie leaves behind a son Elijah Cottrell and a niece Destiny. She is survived by her loving boyfriend Moises Flores (Garland, TX), who bought joy and companionship to her life. Her mother Alicia (John) Singleton. Father Jaunci Lockett (Dallas, TX). In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her former step father, Hatari Metoyer (Dallas, TX) who remained a cherished figure in her life, 4 grandmothers, Rhonda McKinney (Ft. Worth, TX), Evelyn Owens (Collins, MS), Jennifer Singleton (Goldsboro, NC), and Stephanie Metoyer (Natchitoches, LA). 2 grandfathers, Wilbur Lewis (San Antonio, TX) and Merix “Reno” Berryman (Atlanta, GA). 3 brothers, Eric Lockett (Dallas, TX), John F. Singleton (Raleigh, NC), AJ Ellis (Ft. Worth, TX), Aunt Dawn Lewis-Byrd (San Antonio, TX), Aunt Jewel Singleton (McLeansville, NC), Aunt Ivey McKinney (Ft. Worth, TX), Uncle Shaun Lewis (San Antonio, TX), Cousin Lyanna Byrd (San Antonio, TX) and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister Naomi Sheree Lewis, her grandmother Diane Owens, 2 grandfathers Herman Owens and Troy McKinney.
In addition to her beloved son and parents, Amaya is survived by her niece Destiny, who adored her, as well as a close-knit family and a wide circle of friends who will forever treasure her memory. Amaya's legacy of love, laughter, and perseverance will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know her. Known for her outgoing and vivacious personality, Jalisa was a true social butterfly. She found immense joy in dancing, creating delightful TikTok videos that entertained and inspired many, and baking delicious treats that showcased her culinary talents. Her creative spirit and infectious energy were evident in all she did, leaving a trail of happy memories and smiles in her wake.
At the time of her passing, Jalisa was a dedicated student at Columbia College, where she was diligently pursuing a degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Her ambition and drive were a testament to her determination to create a bright future for herself and her loved ones.
Jalisa's most cherished role was that of a loving mother to her precious daughter, Destiny. Her boundless love and dedication to her child were the cornerstones of her life. Jalisa's warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to witness her in this role.
