Alma Jean Mason, 93, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 8th in Heath, Texas. She was born on February 26, 1930 in Texarkana, Texas to Claude and Ola Wade. Alma was raised in Texarkana and graduated from Texarkana High in 1947. She married Robert Mason in 1950 and the couple had two children. She retired as head of Human Resources for Sabine Oil and Gas Corporation where she worked for over twenty five years.
Alma and Bob were members of the Shriner community and enjoyed countless charity and social events over the span of fifteen years. They loved traveling together and Alma loved experiencing the different slot machines from casinos around the world. She enjoyed Saturday football cheering on her Oklahoma Sooners and could be found every Sunday yelling at the tv during a Cowboys game.
Alma loved caring for her family, whether it be through a meal or mixing up a batch of her beloved Colorado bulldogs. Her favorite card game that she played consistently over the span of seventy years was Russian rummy. Alma will be remembered by her loved ones for her selflessness and kindness, and you could always count on her to greet you with a “hi sweetie”.
Alma is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert Mason. Her mother and father. Her siblings, as well as her son, Robert Mason Jr.
Alma is survived by her daughter, Dee Waller. Grandchildren: Clay and Robyn Waller, Jeff and Racheal Waller, Julee and Jennifer Waller, and Robert Mason III (Trey). Great-grandchildren: Preston, Tatum, Sydney, Jayden, Avery, Rhys, and Mason.
