Passed away at age 91 on August 29, 2014. A.D. Newton was born on July 7, 1923 in Bridgeport, Texas. He graduated from Bridgeport High School and Southern Methodist University-BBA in Accounting. He was a WWII Navy veteran, serving as Pharmacist Mate First Class medic in the Pacific Theater—Guadalcanal, Okinawa, Guam and Japan from October 1942 to December 1945. A.D. was a retired Dallas CPA. He was a long-time devoted member of White Rock United Methodist Church. Predeceased by his wife, Fay and brother Bill. Survived by brother, Barney Newton and wife Sonya; son, Richard Newton; daughter, Janet Massey and husband Ron; grandchildren, Kelly Kruyshoop, Kevin Kruyshoop, Eric Massey and wife Sarah, Jeff Massey and wife Britny, Ryan Massey, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Sparkman/ Hillcrest Funeral Home on Northwest Highway from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 2. Funeral services will be held at Sparkman/ Hillcrest Chapel at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 3rd -- Interment following the service.
