David was born in Cocoa Beach, FL on September 04, 1958 to the late James Cecil Bundy and the late Dorothy Yvonne Bundy. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his beloved son, Ricky Bundy.
Survivors to carry on his legacy include his beautiful wife of 46 years, Sandra Bundy; daughter, Mary Bundy-Glover; grandchildren, Logan Bundy (Lydia) and Jamey Glover; sisters, Sabrina Bundy (Ellen), Melanie VanOpstal (Chuck), Stephanie Carpenter; sister-in-laws, Reba Bare (Mike) and Lynn Ruppe (Cecil); brother-in-laws, Gary Brooks (Belinda), Billy Brooks (Glenda), Benny Brooks; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends; and finally, his precious fur baby, Bo.
David was a true and genuine man among men. No one ever had to question his feelings or love for them. Being a family man, he devoted his time to Sandra, their two children, grandchildren, and other family members who loved him dearly. He worked over 40 years as a pipe engineer to provide for his family, finally retiring in 2021 from Southern Mechanical Services. When he wasn’t working, David enjoyed a few different hobbies. Supporting his grandsons through attending little league games, to graduating high school and further, he took immense pride in Logan and Jamey. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Walking through the woods on a cool morning with his children to find the perfect spot, or perched in a boat, fishing rod in hand with a beloved cousin, were always special times to him. He also enjoyed taking a ride on his Harley when he had the chance. David was an excellent cook and any time was the perfect time to celebrate with a good meal and a hearty laugh. The many stories he told from his younger years will never be forgotten, as he was quite the storyteller, too. The mountains were like a second home to him and he always spoke of how beautiful the land was as the Autumn leaves began to fall away, revealing the rolling hills.
David had a beautiful mind, a welcoming smile and a heart of gold. He was a teddy bear who gave the absolute best hugs. The love he exuded will continue to embrace those whose lives he touched for all eternity. Especially his wife, Sandra, who he fell in love with at first sight so many moons ago. Going on to marry her and raising a beautiful family through love, protection and hard work. With the twinkle of his blue eyes and a smile on his face, he made sure to remind her that she was indeed his Sunshine everyday. Their love was like no other. A true fairytale of the modern day.
David held firm in his faith, he deserved the world and he will be missed beyond words.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1st, 2024 from 1:00 P.M. – 2:15 P.M. at Carothers Funeral Home of Dallas at 212 W Trade St, Dallas, NC 28034. A funeral service to celebrate David’s life will follow at 2:30 P.M. in the funeral home chapel.
