Betty Lay passed away on August 16, 2017 at Elderberry Health Care Center in the mountains of NC. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Belinda Lay Eggen of Barnardsville, NC, and her son, Dr. Robert Franklin Lay of Los Angeles, CA, two granddaughters, Jennifer Mont of Greensboro, NC and Rebekah Veitia of Miami, FL, and 3 great grandsons, Liam Mont and Isaac and Benaiah Veitia.
Betty traveled the world with her husband, and lived in many places in the US: NC, SC, FL, VA, CO, LA, and NY. She loved her family, all children, most people, her church and life. She was treasured by everyone with whom she worked over her lifetime. The past year, dementia took most of her awareness and memory away, but the nurses, staff and other patients at Elderberry spoke very highly of her still.
A celebration of her life will be held at Long Creek Memorial Baptist Church in Dallas, NC on Thursday, August 24th at 1:00 PM.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
