Wilson Joseph Vallet Jr. the Only son of Grace Martinez Vallet and Wilson Joseph Vallet Sr., was born on October 10, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he attended school at Epiphany Catholic elementary school where he served as an altar boy. He attended St. Agustin Catholic High School, and graduated in 1959. After graduation he matriculated to Louisiana State University.
In 1963 Wilson joined his high school friends and relocated to Los Angeles, California. Wilson served his country in the United States Marine Corp Reserves for six years. His first job in Los Angeles was a Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, California. He left that position, and in 1970 began a new career at Pittsburg Paint and glass where he remained until his retirement in 2004.
He met DeOttis La Valle Crutcher in Los Angeles, and they were united in holy matrimony on May 2, 1970. To this union a son Christopher Michael Vallet was born.
Wilson was an avid reader, loved horse racing, and traveling which he enjoyed after retiring. He possessed a generous, jovial; honest, responsible spirit, demonstrated in his everyday life and interaction with others. His generosity was manifested in the many organizations which he supported including, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The American Cancer Society, The Audubon Society, and The City of Hope Cancer-Research Medical Center.
Wilson entered into his eternal life on October 15, 2016 at the City of Hope Cancer-Research Center while struggling with Cancer. He accepted the diagnosis and was prepared for the inevitable journey, as evidenced in his refusal of any heroic measures.
His departure was preceded by his mother Grace in 2002, and his father Wilson Sr. in 2013. He will be greatly missed by his wife DeOttis, son Christopher, Cousins Judy and Phyllis, along with many other family members and a host of friends.
