Julian Francis Aylor, 85 of Culpeper, Virginia passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at The Culpeper. He was born in Washington, D. C., on September 2, 1939, and he lived there until he was two years old. He was the son of the late Kenneth R. Aylor and Mary B. Aylor. He was predeceased by his brother, Russell, and he is survived by his sister Eva Aylor and her children.
Julian moved with his family to Culpeper in 1941 at the onset of World War II. He lived with his grandmother until the family bought a small farm on the east side of town. He went to school in Culpeper and graduated from high school in 1957.
Julian served with the Virginia Defense Force. He worked with the Culpeper Jaycees. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation for over four decades where he created many of the historical signs throughout Virginia. In 1986, he was presented a plaque in appreciation for his leadership and dedication in assisting the Burke Historical Society as they acquired and erected an historical marker recognizing the December 1862 Burke Station Raid by Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart.
Julian loved reading and discussing history. He was very patriotic so that he actually had a large flag in his room at The Culpeper. He also loved antique cars and was a collector of World War II memorabilia. He loved music, and he loved singing in church choirs. He also sang with the Blue Ridge Chorale. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Reva.

A funeral service will be held for Julian on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church in Reva with Pastor Adam Meisberger officiating at 11:00A.M. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 6262 Hoover Road, Reva, VA 22735, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN, 38101-9929.
