Ingeborg P. Stephens, 95, of Culpeper went home to be with the Lord on October 1, 2024. Inge was born on August 18, 1929 in Berlin, Germany to the late Hans and Margaret Prawitz. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Keith Mozingo, and her second husband, John W. Stephens. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ursula Prawitz Ibbetson, and her niece, Betty Ibbetson.
Inge was a war bride and came to the United States by way of Ellis Island in 1951. In 1969, she married John W. Stephens. Inge and John were happily married for 44 years and spent their lives working and living in Culpeper. She worked at Southern Garment Manufacturer of Culpeper for 12 years. Inge was well known by many people from her 35 years of working at Gayheart’s Drug Store, and her volunteer service with the Auxiliary of UVA Culpeper Hospital in the coffee shop. Inge was also a faithful member of Novum Baptist Church. She loved her family and her pets, especially Leona, Sheba, and Booty. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, knitting, cooking, and sewing.
She is survived by her cousins Doris Strultz and Petra Schultz of Berlin, Germany. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-laws, Jewell Haynes of Culpeper, Doug and Carolyn Stephens of Culpeper, Carrie Wilson of Boyington, VA, Margie Stephens of Bristow, VA, and Nancy Stephens of Culpeper. Inge is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and her Novum Baptist Church family.
A graveside service will be held at the Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Pastor Jeff Light will be officiating.
