Gerald Reed Salisbury

Gerald “Jerry” Reed Salisbury, 71 aka (Belfast Kid) a resident of Odenton and Wingate, MD passed away on July 20, 2021 after fighting a long battle with cancer. Gerald grew up in Northport, Maine, where his loving mother and father, Gerald B. Salisbury and Virginia Glover Salisbury raised him. His two younger brothers, Darrell Salisbury and David Salisbury, of Northport Maine, survive him. Jerry attended Belfast High School, where he graduated in the class of 1967. He was on the swim team and football team. After high school, he attended Daniel Webster College. Upon graduation, Jerry spent three years in the Army as in the Field Artillery. During his enlisted years, he met his late wife Elisabeth C Salisbury from Lawton Oklahoma, and later joined the New Hampshire Army National Guard at the rank of Captain. Jerry’s passion for flying carried over throughout his adult life. Recently he was building his own plane at his retirement home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, with all intentions of flying it someday. His passion for flying also led to his involvement with the Charlottesville flight center and was a member of Quiet Birdman. His passion was flying; he loved to be in the sky and he enjoyed every moment of it. He taught his children about flying and was an amazing pilot. He obtained his pilot license in Charlottesville, Virginia Flight center. He enjoyed not only flying but also traveling the world and enjoying quality time with his wife. He loved to go on a cruise every year and enjoyed different parts of the world. He loved sports cars. Gerald loved great food, good company and especially family. He believed that you do not have to spend a lot to enjoy time together. Gerald loved family more than anything and it showed. He believed money was not over the love of his family. He spent quality time with his children, his wife and his grandchildren. He loved his family more than anything in this world and made sure that his kids and his grandkids were well taken care of. He is also an uncle and a cousin to many in Maine. He leaves behind nine grandchildren and was about to be a great grandfather. Gerald leaves behind a loving wife Veronica Salisbury and 4 children. They are Christopher Salisbury of Weare, NH and his wife and two children, Anthony Salisbury and Anna Salisbury. James Salisbury of Springfield, VT and his wife and two daughters Ella Salisbury and Lara Reichler. Jeffery Salisbury of Glen Burnie, MD and two children Kellen Salisbury and Natasha Salisbury, and his daughter Diana Salisbury Rafferty of Woodbridge, VA, and husband and three sons Joseph Rafferty, Nolan Rafferty and Austin Rafferty. He also leaves behind his best friend Ron Simms of Greenland, NH. Ron was Jerry is fishing and hunting buddy. Jerry’s grandchildren have taken after him in many aspects of his life and are influenced by their grandfather, leading them to play football, enter the military, or plan to join in the near future. He became very successful in his field of Engineering, where he worked at Herricks Technology in Germantown, Maryland until his passing. He will be missed and always continue to be loved as a brother, uncle, father in law, husband and father. Well loved by others, he will be known for his quote of speech and will always be loved by his family and friends. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home with interment to follow in Culpeper National Cemetery, New Grounds with military honors.
