Ms. Sharpton was born August 1, 1929 to O.R. and Bertha McCurdy Sharpton. She graduated from West Point High School and continued her education graduating from Trevrecca Nazarene University and Vanderbilt University. She lived most of her life in Nashville where she was a school teacher. She taught for one year in New Prospect, two years in Kansas City and thirty-five years in Nashville Metro. She loved her family, especially her great nieces and nephews. Ms. Sharpton was a charter member of Beulah Church of the Nazarene, where she loved and supported her church family. She also enjoyed flowers and traveling.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law: Peggy Sharpton; and niece: Debbie Cottle.
Survivors include her sisters: Beatrice (James) Cottle and Mary Ruth (Edwin) Guthrie; brothers: Edwin Sharpton, Billy Ray Sharpton and Harold (Diane) Sharpton; a host of nieces and nephews; and special caregiver: Cindy Yearwood Steele.
Her Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Moss Service Funeral Home beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Micah Sturm and Rev. Learon West officiating. Her family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Cullman City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Jimmy Cottle, Bradley Cottle, Heath Sharpton, Eddie Guthrie, Kevin Guthrie, Bill Sharpton and Joey Hyatt.
