Mrs. Mary Helen Gasser Handley

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Helen Handley, age 66 of Cullman, will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Egan, O.S.B. and Father Kevin McGrath officiating. Interment will follow at the Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Handley passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at her sons residence in Huntsville. She was born on December 8, 1944 in Cullman to the late Paul Bernard Gasser and Anna Marie Tekulve Gasser. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, had graduated from Cullman H.S. in 1963 and worked at Merchants Bank from 1985 until 1991, before becoming the Office Manager at Moss-Service Funeral Home, where she held that position until 2009.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry Handley; one sister, Polly Morgan; and two brothers, C.L. Gasser and Bill Gasser and one very close friend, Bob Wunderlich.

Survivors include her two 2 – Sons – Jerry Paul (Lori) Handley of Huntsville and Thomas Allen Handley of Cullman; three Grandchildren – Hudson Morris, Harrison Morris and Grace Handley; and one on the way; one Sister – Jody (Butch) Buxton of Cullman; and one Brother – Bud (Pat) Gasser of Cullman; and a host of Nieces and Nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, October 14, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hayes, Michael Christensen, Brad Uzzell, Derek Dale, Darrell Mosteller, Gary Murphree, Keith Pattillo, Brian Smith and Randy Speakman.
