David is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gayleen Drake. He is survived by his two daughters, Kayleigh Drake and Carrieanne Drake; his sister, Alane Fraser, brothers Kuenn Drake (Cyndy), and Shane Drake (Emily); and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Uncle Roll Tide”.
David was born on July 19, 1956, in Provo, Utah to Charles and Gayleen Drake, and his family moved to Alabama when he was in elementary school. To know David was to know a generous, quick witted man who was full of integrity and an absolute fanatic for all things Alabama sports. He spent his early career years spinning records and lighting up the air at many radio stations peppering the Panama City coast, and continued this career when he moved back to Alabama to raise his family. For many years, he enjoyed going on various caving and high adventure trips with his Cullman Grotto family. And when he had spare time later in life, he could be found either sitting at his second home, the Vinemont Super Saver, spectating or announcing a sporting event, or gathering with friends.
A visitation service will be held in Cullman, Alabama on October 15, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Moss Funeral home with a gathering at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on October 16, 2023 at 11 a.m. for all who wish to attend, with a meal and celebration of life immediately following, at the same location.
