Shelley Kay Kelby, age 68, of Griffith, IN, went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2020. She was born on July 5, 1951 to Robert W. and Marian M. (Christenson) Krug in Milwaukee, WI. Shelley attended the University of Wisconsin in La Crosse, Wisconsin and used her teaching degree as an elementary school teacher. On November 18, 1978, she married the love of her life and soulmate James R. Kelby in Milwaukee, WI. Together, they founded their own trucking company Jamie Express in 1982, providing transportation and setting up of modular homes.
Shelley had so much joy in her heart and would light up the room with her contagious smile and outgoing personality. She was a true optimist and would always look on the bright side of life. She showed great courage throughout her lifetime. Shelley was a very caring, thoughtful and patient person; a true blessing to everyone who knew her. She treasured time with family and friends and enjoyed going out for dinner and taking vacations. She was a hardworking woman who was always planning the next adventure. While on vacations, Shelley would do everything from skiing (both on water and snow), boating, riding ATVs, zip lining, scuba diving, riding motorcycles, horseback riding, you name it. She lived her life to the fullest.
Shelley leaves behind her husband of 41 years, James R. Kelby; children, Jamie (Doug) Brincks, Jennalee (Mike) Krupa, Jennifer (Joel) Kimball, Katie (Pat) Mcintosh, Jimmy Kelby, (Late Chris) son in law – Joe Novak; brother Robert F. (Diana) Krug; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren and her precious cat named Roaster.
A private family gathering and funeral service to honor Shelley will take place on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Eric Kleinschmidt will be officiating.
