Richard A Peyton

Richard A. Peyton, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2013. He is survived by his loving children: Carrie (Alan) Jennings, Richard (Angela) Peyton, and Tamra (Michael) Walkowiak; grandchildren: Tanisha (John) Ellison, Tina George, Michael (Monica) Walkowiak, Tiffany (Jeremiah) James, Brandy Peyton, and Coco Peyton; great grandfather of seven. Richard is also survived by his sisters-in-law: Mabel (Tom) Reeves and Elenore Peyton; good friends: Bill Chon, Frank Austin, Phil Skaggs, and Pat Moore; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Mary B. Peyton (Sherrell); three brothers; and two sisters. Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army 98th Airborne Division from 1954-1956. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local 395 where he served on their Executive Board for five years. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Hammond Elks Lodge 485 and past Secretary-Treasurer of the Gophers Golf League. Richard was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN) with Pastor Tom Shanahan officiating. Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Chapel Lawn from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
