She is survived by her loving parents, Irene and John Bortko; her brothers, Brian (Amanda Claire) and Timothy (Amanda); devoted cousins, Noah and Faith; cherished uncle and aunt, John and Fran; and her faithful pet, Ginger. Karen was deeply loved by her family and friends.
A graduate of Lake Central High School and Davenport University, Karen dedicated 19 and a half years to working at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, before returning to Indiana. She most recently served as an administrative assistant at Faith Church in Cedar Lake, where she developed a strong bond with her church family. Karen was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering willingness to help others. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her, always offering a caring and loving presence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Faith Church in Cedar Lake.
A visitation for Karen will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. The funeral service will follow from 1:00 to 1:45 PM, with a committal service at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery from 2:00 to 2:15 PM.
