Harry "Jim" Smith

Harry James "Jim" Smith of Fremont, IN, was called home by our Heavenly Father on February 18, 2023. Jim was born in Jasonville, IN, on January 14, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty M. (Gabbert) Allaway and Harry D. Smith, and step-father, James C. Allaway. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie F. (Auten) Smith of 59 years, his loving sisters Patricia Naughton (Joseph) and Cathy Rodriguez (Manny), his treasured daughters Shawnie L. Woeller (Wayne), and Wendy Sioux Reigel (Jon), his precious grandchildren Justin Euren (Rhianon), Kourtney Waggoner (Jonathan), and Emmie Reigel, his caring step grandchildren, Jenna Kenyon (Joe), Sarah Bailey (Justin), and Rachel Woeller, his cherished great grandchildren Makynna Mason, Elliana Joy Waggoner, and sweet step-great grandchildren Nora and Mia Bailey, and dear nieces Rhonda Tomich (Jeff), Robin Tomich (Jim), and kind great nieces Nichole Torres and Alison Hawks (Dalton) and nephews Anthony and Noah Grunhard. Jim retired from United Parcel Service in 1999 after 30 years of service where he started as a package car driver and earned his CDL to become a semi-truck trailer driver, pulling singles, doubles, and triples! He was an avid birder and the hummingbird's loved him. He loved to fish, and devour a fish fry, that his wife Bonnie served him after a successful day of fishing, and most of all he was A Fisher of Men Matthew 4:19. He was the rock of his family and always took such wonderful care of us and made sure we all knew how much he loved us. We will forever remember his enthusiastic motto, "Keep on Keepin' on." A public visitation for Jim will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 11:30 AM until the time of the funeral beginning at 1:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Pastor Jeff Gowen will be officiating.
