I met Paul in the early 1980s at Bankers Trust Company early in my career.  The best thing ever was working for Paul. I learned a lot and he helped me continue my career onto Wharton to get my MBA.  He was a great mentor and friend throughout my life and we stayed in touch over those 40+ years.  He took me out for lunch at Le Cote Basque in NYC in August 1987 before I left for Wharton.  I will always remember Paul with many warm memories.

We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend Paul.

I have been friends for over 70 years as our families were close neighbours in Budapest. After 1956 both families sought refuge in the West, Paul’s settled in Paris whilst mine chose the UK.
During the following decades our families kept in touch and exchanged frequent visits. In 1976 , my wife and I visited Paul and Dorothy in Chicago. We fondly recall this occasion, as I remember, we went to an interesting restaurant with singing waiters.
More recently, we got together in the UK and  France. Paul was always good company, well informed, cultured, and generous host with a great sense of humour. 
We are grateful to you Dorothy for helping to send the much anticipated New Year cards and photos, cherished dog included. You are in our thoughts during these difficult times and on behalf of Maria my 
sister and the rest of my family we send our love and heartfelt condolences.

Paul was not only a colleague at Citi but also a great friend. We met in Paris, but could also have met in Chicago… We vacationed together (Nantucket, Le Lot Valley, etc.) and shared many emotions; the strongest was probably when Dorothy was crossing the Hudson River on 9/11 and we wondered where she was…

I hope someone writes about his escape from Hungary in his youth (the French embassy in Budapest must have some records! – It was epic.)

Paul, we miss you dearly and we will raise a glass of Single Malt to your memory.

I was so sorry to read of Paul's battle and passing. Please accept my condoleances. I was Paul's colleague until I left Citibank Paris in 1992. He was a good man and a good friend.

To the Lakner family,
Sincere condolences on the occasion to passage to God of Paul. He was a great person to work with when we started, together with another colleague, Citibank Paris M&A Dept in 1987; dynamic, efficient, very human and a formidable team member, tolerant and friendly, always had time for a good lough and an after work drink, unvaluable team member. Like you all, I miss him.
God will welcome him as a good man, in all respects

As a former colleague of Paul  at Citibank in Paris , i do remember a very decent human being , always friendly and opened to share his experiences which were quite diversified and impressive . 
My condolences to his family and an au revoir to a very memorable colleague .
