Jack was born to James and Bridget (nee McAuliffe) Moore in April of 1931 in Moyvane, County Kerry.
Jack was predeceased by his brother Tom and sisters Hannah and Mary. He is survived by his sister Breda and 5 step-children from his second marriage, as well as 13 step-grandchildren (who knew him as Papa Jack). He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jack came to the United States in 1949 and settled in the Bronx. He joined and proudly served in the US Army in the early 1950’s. He worked at commercial bakeries along 11th Avenue in Manhattan for a few years before joining the Paper Handlers Union. He went on to work in the Union, mostly at the New York Times, for 44 years.
Jack married his first wife, Joan (nee O’Connell) in 1956. Joan passed away in 1980 and a few years later Jack met and married Norah Crowley Considine. Jack and Norah lived for many years in Rivervale, NJ before her passing in 2019.
Jack was a proud Kerryman and American. He was a religious man and his faith helped him battle his illness over the past few years. He was a quiet, steady, dignified man who loved his family and friends and was much loved by them in return.
A visitation for Jack will be held Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, New York 10520. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Monday, June 24, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Holy Name of Mary Church, 114 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, New York. A burial will occur Monday, June 24, 2024 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, New York 10532.
