Troy Ferris Cottrell

TROY F. COTTRELL Troy F. Cottrell was born in Clay County, WV on July 23, 1923 to French and Gladys Stewart Cottrell. He was welcomed in Heaven on September 18, 2016 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, a member of Salinas Masonic Lodge 27, and American Legion Sgt. Joseph “Joe” Turner Post 11. He retired from Columbia Gas of WV in 1982. Troy was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and mother of their only child, Marcella Hill Cottrell; brothers Doy (Lois) and Roy (Ruth); sister Daphene (Frank) Perry; and stepson David Morris. He is survived by wife Maxine Faye Beard Cottrell; son David and wife Amy Cottrell of Charleston; granddaughter Jennifer Crandall of Jamestown, NY; step daughter-in-law Kathy Foley of Erie, PA; adopted granddaughter Brittany McComas of Cross Lanes; and his precious dog Candi. Troy will be missed by his family and his many friends and neighbors. The family would like to thank the staff of the Hubbard Hospice House for their kindness and support during Troy’s last days. Donations may be made in his honor to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. West, Charleston, WV 25312. Services will be on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at 2:00pm at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Rd., Cross Lanes, WV 25313, with visitation from noon until service time.
