Thala Jeanette Miller
August 23, 1935 – April 24, 2024
With love and gratitude, the family of Thala Jeanette Miller announces her passing on April 24th, 2024, at Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point, North Carolina.
She was born in Plymouth, West Virginia on August 23rd, 1935, daughter of the late Elvin and Iva Saunders. Thala married the love of her life, her devoted and loving husband George Arlen Miller, on February 4th, 1955, whom of which she is survived by in addition to their three children, David Arlen Miller (Josie) of Kernersville, NC, James Lee Miller (Bambi Craft) of Milton, WV, Robin Renee Bennett (Eric Beane) of High Point, NC.
She is also survived by her Grandchildren, Tasha Georgette Bennett of Nitro WV, Trenton Alan Bennett of Eastover NC, James Lee Miller Jr. of Charleston WV, Paula Ann Culverhouse of Raleigh NC, Holly Noel Garner of Efland NC, David Arlen Miller Jr. of Oak Island NC; and Great-grandchildren Adam, Adilyn, Damien, Olivia, Landon, Lelia, Austin and Arlyn. And many nephews, nieces and cousins. She is preceded in death by her brother James “Jim” Saunders of Saint Albans, West Virginia.
Thala was a graduate of Dunbar High School in 1954. Her career began as a telephone switchboard operator for the telephone company. She was an employee of Heck’s buying office for many years and retired from the State of West Virginia as a data entry specialist.
Thala was the epitome of a social butterfly. With many friends, she shared a love for bowling, ceramics, hosting Stanley parties, camping and baking. She was a devout member of the Nitro Church of Christ, as well as an active member of the Nitro Community Senior Center. She loved to socialize over lunch with friends and play bingo. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her quick wit and generous spirit.
Service to honor Thala’s memory at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home on Monday, April 29th at 2:00pm with Minister Andy Shamblin officiating.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 1 until time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association and/or Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point, North Carolina.
