Mr. John Robert Smith

He proudly served during the Korean war in the US Navy during 1951 to 1955 on the USS Midway and USS Intrepid.

He retired from the C & P Telephone Company after 37 years.

John is survived by his loving wife Barbara Smith of 62 years and his children Kitty Prowse and husband Gary of Nitro, WV, Shelia Soccino of Martinsburg, WV. Robin Wratchford and husband Gary of Shepherdstown, WV. Jeff Smith and wife Kimberly of Martinsburg, WV, and Mark Smith and wife Hope of Martinsburg, WV. and one brother David Kincaid of Princeton, WV.

John loved his family and enjoyed being with them. He and Barbara had 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

John was a long time active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hurricane, WV, and recently Cross Lanes Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Academy in Hurricane, WV or Hospice of Thomas Memorial in Charleston, WV.

Services will be held at Tyler Mountain Funeral home 5233 Rocky Fork Rd., Cross Lanes, WV 25313 on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Pete Thompson officiating, visitation will be from Noon until service time.
