Willard "Butch" Lee Carroll

Born December 4, 1946 in Chaffee, Missouri to Leo L. and Edna M. (Graham) Carroll, he married Shirley Jean Flanagan on October 3, 1964 in Marquette Heights.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years; one daughter, Beverly Carroll of Creve Coeur; two sons, Willard “Butchie” (Gail Stokes) Carroll of East Peoria and Christofer (Elizabeth) Carroll of Pekin; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Laura Carroll of Pontoon Beach and one brother, Paul David (Vicki) Carroll of Hillsboro, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Butch had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 974 in East Peoria.

An avid pool player in his younger years, Butch enjoyed bowling in several area leagues, riding his motorcycle and playing slot machines.

Butch loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He and his wife, Shirley, were a host family provider for EP!C for 30-plus years.

His visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Cremation will accorded following. A gathering celebrating Butch’s life will be 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at the Creve Coeur V.F.W. Private family inurnment will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton.
