Richard Otto Ladtkow was born in 1929 in Streator Illinois. He grew up in Streator, Chicago and Oklahoma, one of four children of Otto and Aneta Ladtkow. Richard was the last of that generation of Ladtkow children, remaining on this earth after the passing of his brothers Robert and Neil and his sister Karlene. Richard came to fall in Love with the Steamboat/Hayden area when he fell in love with a beautiful blue-eyed girl from Hayden. He married Shirley Dinwiddie, whose parents were Charles and Jennie Dinwiddie of Hayden, in 1952 and they raised five children together mostly in the Westminster and Northglenn area on the front range. Their children, Charlotte (Jim), Richard (Vera), Thomas (Daria), Brenda and James (Teri) were a source of constant joy as well as a source of grandchildren (10) and great grandchildren (12 and counting) for Richard and Shirley. Richard enjoyed Elk hunting on the family ranch south of Hayden, flying small airplanes and traveling the world including multiple fishing trips to Alaska. His bride, Shirley went on to be with our Lord in April of 2013 and left a hole in Richard’s heart that is now filled again as he joins her in Heaven. We are sad to lose contact with our father for a while, but confident that we will see him again when we too leave this earth to be with Jesus. A celebration of Richard's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday November 8, 2024, at the Flatirons Community Church, 355 W South Boulder Road in
Lafayette, CO. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Hayden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Richard’s name to the Denver Street school.
