Foister Ellis Blair II, 79, of Lacombe Louisiana passed on November 15th, 2024 peacefully at home surrounded by the ones he loved most.
He was born in New Orleans in 1945 to Foister Ellis Blair and Ruth Sylvia (Johnson) Blair. He had two siblings a brother Henry Blair and a sister Alice (Blair) Ford. He attended Elizabeth City High School in North Carolina where he graduated in 1964. He attended college at the University of New Orleans where he met his wife Patty Ann (Roche) Blair. He then continued to join the Marine Corps for 10 years before being honorably discharged. He worked at Bell South for 32 years before retiring to be a stay at home father to help raise his youngest son. He then went on to be an Assistant store Manager at Lowes in Slidell for 19 years before retiring from there. He had a total of 62 years in the workforce before permanently retiring to spend time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Foister married the love of his life Patty Ann (Roche) Blair in 1968. They went on to have 4 children together which he loved dearly; Rachael (Blair) Gill, Rebekah (Blair) Yarbrough, Christopher Blair, and Patrick Blair. They also have 5 grandchildren. Christopher’s two sons Clinton and Nathan. Patrick’s three children Lynnleigh, Alessandria “Allie” and Charles Ellis who he is named after. He was a very loved Gramps/Grampy. He never failed to sit on the couch and listen to them as they would read to him and told him about their day. He loved to eat snacks with his children and grandchildren. He had a soft spot for his pets Shelby and Stella. He was a parishioner at St. John of The Cross Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies where spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed cooking and hosting Holiday dinners. Especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. Anyone who knew him knows his legacy is larger than any one life time.
He is preceded in death by his father Foister Ellis Blair, mother Ruth Sylvia (Johnson) Blair, brother Henry Blair, and brothers-in-law Richard “Dick” Ford and Raymond Houpy.
He is survived by his wife Patty Ann (Roche) Blair, sister Alice (Blair) Ford, his children Rachael (Jimmy) Gill, Rebekah (Jake) Yarbrough, Christopher, and Patrick (Stephanie) Blair, his grandchildren Clinton, Nathan, Lynnleigh, Alessandria, and Charles.
He will have graveside service for family and friends at St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to any of the Vietnam Veterans associations.
