Andrea, or “Andy” as she was affectionately known, was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School in 1958. In 1961, she married Carl James Farris and together they had four children: Lori, Lisa, Carl, and Leslie. She and Carl raised their children in the Gentilly Woods neighborhood, making many friends during their time there. In her retirement, Andrea moved to Mandeville and enjoyed many years at Rouquette Lodge. Andrea’s greatest joy in life was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She rarely missed milestones or events such as dance revues or baseball games. She often was proud to say that although her grandchildren lived all over the country, she was able to attend each of their graduations from high school and college. Other than her love of her children and grandchildren, Andrea was possibly Elvis Presley’s biggest fan, even making the pilgrimage to Graceland following his death. Throughout her life, Andrea was lucky to remain friends with many women she attended grade school with, most importantly – Anna, Paulette, and Carol. They called themselves the “Fab Four”, meeting for lunches regularly until Andrea moved to California in 2021. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Dominic, 775 Harrison Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 12:00 PM with visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 AM.
Burial will follow the services in Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum, 5190 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124.
