It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rev. Keith Taylor on October 11, 2023 at the age of 92. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 13, 1931, he lived most of his life on the Prairies. He attended school in Manor, SK, Bible school in McCord, SK and Winnipeg, MB, and college in Seattle, Washington. He, with his wife Joan, served for 32 years as pastor of seven churches in the Free Methodist Church in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, followed by five years as maintenance manager at Aldersgate College in Moose Jaw, SK. Retiring in 1996, he supervised the building of a new house in Weyburn, SK where he and his wife lived until their move to Courtice, ON in 2001. His interests were many, including gardening, painting and carpentry.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Joan of 68 years, daughter, Beth (Barry) Rawn of Courtice, ON, son, Cam of Abbotsford, BC, daughter, Marilou (Jay) Mowchenko of Saskatoon, SK, grandchildren—Shannon (Josh) Brigham, Ryan (Chantel) Rawn, Justin (Christina) Rawn, Caleb and Elena Taylor, Keisha and Josh Mowchenko, great-grandchildren—Norah and Taylor. He is also survived by a brother, Martin (Betty) and a sister, Joyce (Derrell) Rodine, a sister-in-law, Dolores Taylor, plus many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Don and Glenn, two sisters, Helen and Evelyn and his daughter-in-law, Vicky Taylor.
He loved life, his church, his family and his many friends who enjoyed his wonderful sense of humour. His main goal in life was to be an encourager, to finish well and to leave a legacy of faith – all of which he accomplished. In 2021 he and his wife moved to Harmony Hill Retirement Community where he soon felt very much at home. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 10 at the Trulls Road Free Methodist Church in Courtice, ON with a visitation at 10am, followed by the service at 11.
