The family of Cleo Elsie Murray (Maki) is saddened to announce her peaceful passing surrounded by her family in Oshawa, Ontario on December 7 in her 88th year. She is now reunited with her loving husbands, the late Neil Murray and the late Edwin Maki. Adored and loved by her three children Scott Maki (Laura) of Hamilton, Ont., Allison Corbett (Dave) of Bowmanville, Ont. and Heather Kazmierczak (Chris) of Farmington Hills, Michigan. Also survived by her grandchildren whom she was so proud of, Erich (Katelin) and Adam (Olivia) Bogensberger, Stephanie and Jennifer Maki, Alex and Andrew Kazmierczak. Special great grandmother (GGMa) to Jannah, Davey, Emmett, Emmi and Raya. Elsie was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Jane “Mamie” Frech. Predeceased by her dear sister Marion Rosso (late Joe). Beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews who all held a special place in her heart.
Elsie’s greatest accomplishment was raising her three children, for many years as a widowed working mother following the unexpected passing of her husband Ed in 1981. Several years later she met and married Neil, a dashing Scotsman and they enjoyed many wonderful years together. She took great delight in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren by whom she will be dearly missed. Elsie had a long and rewarding career with Great Lakes Power in Sault Ste. Marie. A warm and caring person, Elsie had many cherished friends and she always appreciated their love and support particularly in the later years when she battled Parkinson’s disease.
Interment in the St. Luke's Columbarium in Sault Ste. Marie and a celebration of Elsie’s life will occur in the spring.
Special thanks to the caring professionals at both the Bowmanville Creek Retirement Residence and on the Purple Woods Unit at Age Care Samac Long Term Care Home in Oshawa. There are truly angels among us.
Donations in Elsie’s memory to the St. John’s Anglican church in Bowmanville https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/40963 or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
The following lyrics epitomize Elsie’s spirit:
May your life be long, your friendships deep. May your heart be kind and true, I pray you know the peace of God and how dearly I loved you.
