He was born in Nelson BC on June 5, 1928 but lived 90 years in and near Victoria.
Russ was a hard working, honest mechanic, proud of his small businesses, especially Schooner Service (Esquimalt), Shelbourne Plaza Texaco and Green Timbers (Lake Cowichan). He married Shirl (deceased 2019) in 1950 and raised 3 children, Wendy, Lynn and David (deceased 2002), in Esquimalt. Dad was an avid badminton player and coach, and enjoyed card playing, gardening, and RVing to Southern California. He moved to Courtenay in 2019 to be close to Lynn and Terry.
Russ (Gramps) is survived by Wendy and Ken Jones in Florida, Lynn and Terry Hodge, grandchildren Michael (Meghan) Jones, Derek (Adele) Hodge, and Hilary (Matt) Oliphant.
We were all so happy he lived long enough to enjoy his great grandchildren Mackenzie Oliphant and Nova Hodge.
