Mike was predeceased by his mother and father, Hester and Vincent Frail, his brothers, Crandall and Gerry and sister Alice. Mike survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Eva Frail, and his two children, son Michael (Teresa), daughter Juanita (Ken), and his four grandchildren, Manning (Stefanee), Brien, Kevin, and Melissa, his siblings, family, and friends in Nova Scotia and across Canada.
Mike was born in Westfield Nova Scotia, and enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces on February 18, 1955 at the tender age of 18. He served with honors until his release in October, 1986. Mike joined as Royal Canadian Signals Corp, and later found his true calling, the Royal Canadian Military Engineers as a “Sapper”. A true “Army Guy” in every sense of the word, Mike was known to all in the Engineer world as “Father Frail”.
Mike, Eva, and the kids traveled to many postings, Kingston, Germany, Winnipeg, Shilo, Chilliwack, and Holberg. Upon retirement Mike and Eva moved to Ootsa Lake, BC and then Comox, BC. A gentle soul with a kind heart, Mike loved to hunt, fish, laugh, and show off his infectious smile. You only had to be in Mike’s presence for a short time to appreciate the man.
The family would like to thank the staff in Comox Valley Regional Hospital Emergency department, third floor B wing, and all the staff at the Comox Valley Seniors Village for their gentle and loving care. To Doctor Daniel Wainberg and his staff for all the care Mike received while living in the Comox Valley. Thank you to Piercy’s Funeral Home for arrangements. Mikes family and friends will celebrate a wonderful life on the deck in the spring, with a “Dark and Dirty” in their hands. The family asked that anyone wanting to make donations in Mike’s honor may do so at a charity of their choice.
