It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Kevin Anthony Lagan, P.Eng. Kevin was a loving husband and is survived by his wife, Margaret Lagan. They were married for 55 years. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, July 27th, 2023, after a short battle with terminal lung cancer. He was born in Newcastle, England to Austin and Ethel Lagan on May 19th, 1948. He moved to Scotland, where he began his career as a civil engineer. Kevin worked in various engineering positions and spent the last 20 years as the City Engineer for the City of Courtenay, before his retirement at the age of 65.
Kevin was brilliant and was a man of integrity, honesty and a heart full of love. He was so proud of his three children, Kim (Brian), Darren (Dan) and Madison. Kevin adored his three grandchildren, Braydon, Olivia and Kaden. He was always teaching them new things.
He was known as ‘Papa’ to all the children that graced our home over the 27 years of fostering. He was also a dedicated ‘dance dad’ for many years. Kevin’s biggest love was his family. He loved to travel and was fortunate to visit many countries, but Hawaii stole his heart. He was our family’s mentor, and his wife’s rock. He was a gentle soul and an amazing human being. He had a sense of humour, like no other! He will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. He served his community well and we were so lucky, as a family, to have his love and guidance. Kevin was a humble man and there will be no service, at his request.
