June 18, 1949-September 28, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Kay Phyllis Knight announces her passing on September 28, 2019 at the age of 70 years. Kay will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters Jannine (Deloume) and Valary (Knight) as well her two grandchildren Lukas and Amaya and her childhood friend Nancy and good friend Denise.
Kay was a very intelligent person who enjoyed reading (true crime novels), writing, history and music, she received her diploma in Bachelor of Arts on May 27, 1972 from the University of Victoria. She was an only child and was quite lonely growing up, very introverted but had a few friends she remained close with throughout her lifetime whom she cherished. She had an immense love for cats, always had at least two or more she loved them more than people. Kay had a great sense of humor and was a caretaker at heart, she took in many people/kids over the years and gave them food and shelter, but most importantly gave them her words of wisdom. She always knew the right thing to say and gave the best advice, her ability to have empathy for people was inspiring. The hardest times in Kay’s life were the loss of her parents in February and March of 1988, the passing of her ex-husband Martin in December 2015 and the loss of her cousin Mal in 2019, she did not handle loss well and eventually contributed to her demise. She always said the best thing that ever happened to her was becoming a mum and it was the happiest she’s ever been.
“May the good Lord be with you down every road you roam, and may the sunshine and happiness surround you when you’re far from home and may you grow to be proud, dignified and true. And do unto others as you’d have done to you, be courageous and be brave and in my heart you’ll always stay, Forever Young, Forever Young.” Rod Stewart
We will be having a Celebration of Life in the summer of 2020 and will contact family and friends closer to that time with details.
