It is with sadness that the family of Barbara Wallace announces her passing on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Ocean View in Comox. Barbara was born on the prairies and grew up with 2 sisters and 1 brother. Barbara moved to BC at a young age and began working at a fish plant in Klemtu, BC for 2 years. Barbara met the love of her life Bill Wallace while working at the fish plant. Bill and Barb were married within one and a half years. They married on Feb 2, 1951. Bill and Barb began commercial fishing together with their first boat Barbara Jean which was a gillnetter. They fished in Northern BC, Hecate Straits and Prince Rupert for over 40 years together. During that time Bill and Barb owned 4 boats. Barbara Jean, Barbara Jean 1, Cats Ass, and finally the Ocean Pixie. When they weren’t fishing they lived in Buckley Bay, Fanny Bay, and lastly Courtenay. Bill and Barb had a beautiful life together. They fished during the spring and summer and travelled to Dessert Hot Springs in the winter for many years. Barbara belonged to the Daughters of the Nile and was currently having luncheons with the ladies. Barbara was the finest of ladies. Never once did you ever hear her complain or say a bad word about anyone. She worked hard and was always heard to say “I am my miserable self” which meant she was doing good. We loved her and will miss her amazing being. Thank-you for her wonderful care to Dr. Kisman and all who cared for her at St. Joseph’s and Ocean View. Barbara will be lovingly remembered by one sister and many nieces and nephews. Barbara had so many friends who loved her. A special hug to Rob and Audrey, Reay Swan, and Cecille.
