On March 16, Red passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Red is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy, “Bog”, his sister Florence Snider, children Carol Ann (Tom), Georgina (Bill) and Andy (Gayle); also by his grandchildren Robert (Alesha), Sean (Sarah), James (Jodi), Jordan, Gina (Brock) and nine great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Red was predeceased by his parents George and Jessie, sisters Jessie and Margaret, and brother John.
Red was born April15, 1921 in Linlithgow, Scotland. He came to Canada at the age of 6 with his family, landing at the port of St. John, New Brunswick. They travelled by train to Vancouver, went on to Nanaimo and after a short time settled in Cumberland.
Red was very active in the community and his church. He served as an alderman on village council for many years and was given the honor of Freeman of the Village in 2001. He also held several positions in the Knights of Columbus over many decades.
Red loved sports, especially baseball. He was an umpire for local leagues for many years. He also loved golf and really enjoyed going to the tournaments in Gold River where he could see many old friends from his years of working there.

Mass will be held at Christ the King Church, 1599 Tunner Drive, Courtenay on Saturday, March 24 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a Tea afterward at the CRI hall, 2665 Dunsmuir Ave in Cumberland.
