Thomas Porter Riffle, 73, of Coshocton, Ohio, passed away at his residence, and went to be with his Lord, with his family by his side, on Thursday, February 9, 2012, after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 28, 1938, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, on a 55 acre farm, the son of the late Theodore and Gertrude (Murphy) Riffle. Thomas lived a full journey in life, and within that journey, at a young age, he owned his own trash pick-up service, and a package delivery service in Clarksburg, W.Va. In 1965, he went to work at Fairmont Foods in Glenn Elk, W. Va., and in 1968, was transferred to Fairmont Foods Dairy Coshocton, Ohio, as a lead man, and Semi Truck driver spotter, which later became Dairy Services of Ohio. He later worked at Sycks bakery delivery, Longaberger Baskets, National Security Guard Co., and Clow Water Systems, where he retired in 1999. Thomas then worked at the Coshocton Senior Center delivering Meals on Wheels, until ill health forced his retirement. It was the most fulfilling job that he enjoyed in life, and was very rewarding to him. Thomas was a member of Burt Ave. Wesleyan Church in Coshocton, Ohio, and enjoyed reading his Bible and scriptures every morning, praying with Pastor Uhlig and friends from church, listening to Country and Gospel music, and being with his family. He never met a stranger. On June 10, 1961, he married Patty Ann Greaver, who preceded him in death in 2002. He is survived by his two daughters, Donna K. (Riffle) Pape, and Brenda (Donald) Howell, both of Coshocton, Ohio, his two grandchildren, Lance Thomas Howell of Coshocton, Kiesa Donn Howell of Canton, Ohio, several nieces, nephews, one cousin, a half-brother, Robert Riffle of Gypsy, W.Va., cousin, Midge Homes of Uniontown, Pa., three best friends, Barb Septer, Rita Newbrough, Joyce Riley, and his most important companion, his dog, Lucy. He was preceded in death by two brothers, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles. A funeral service will be held at Burt Ave. Wesleyan Church, 230 Burt Ave. Coshocton, Ohio, 43812, on Monday, February 13, 2012, at 11:00am, with Pastor Rod Uhlig officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends and neighbors at Given-Dawson Funeral Home, 186 Park Ave., Coshocton, Ohio, on Sunday, February 12, 2012, from 2-4pm., and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Burt Ave. Wesleyan Church. An online memorial is located at www.given-dawsonfuneralhome.com
