Rosemary I. Robinson, age 86, of Portsmouth, formally of West Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013. She was born on September 4, 1926, in Coshocton, County to the late Harry and Harriet (Crayton) Patterson. Rosemary attended Chestnut Hill Elementary and graduated from Coshocton High School in 1944. Rosemary married James G. Robinson who passed away on June 7, 1988.
She worked for Pope-Gosser Pottery and retired from the US Postal Service in West Lafayette after 20 years of services. Rosemary was a member of the West Lafayette United Methodist Church; was an avid walker, enjoyed collecting stamps, bowled in tournaments, and traveled extensively. She will be missed by many who enjoyed her conversation and laughter.
Rosemary is survived by her two sons, James (Kay) Robinson of Burke, VA, and Dr. Mark (Sherrie) Robinson of Cincinnati, OH; three daughters, Kelly (Greg) Smith of Huntington Beach, CA, Nancy (Rocky) Bentley of Wheelersburg, OH and Dr. Jan (Alan) Peterson of Clinton Corners, NY; nine grandchildren, Eric Robinson, Megan Aiken, Kerry Phillips, Jacqueline Murray, Jessica Murray, Mallory Peterson, Veronica Peterson, Grant Smith, and Alex Smith; one great-grandchild, Desmond Aiken; four step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and sister, Lily Hostetter of West Lafayette.
Along with her parents and husband, Rosemary is preceded in death by her three brothers.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013, from 5-8 pm at Given-Dawson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 11:00 am with Reverend Larry Bobbitt officiating. Burial will follow at Fairfield cemetery.
